2027 GWM Haval H7 pricing: New hybrid SUV undercuts Toyota RAV4

Pricing for the new-generation GWM Haval H7 SUV has been issued to dealers, confirming a promotional starting price of $45,990 drive-away to go head-to-head with the cheapest Toyota RAV4 currently in local showrooms.

The automaker hasn’t officially announced pricing for the second-generation H7, having revealed the new model earlier this year with boxier styling and the promise of a starting price “below $50,000”.

GWM Australia wouldn't confirm or deny the dealer pricing, issuing a statement to CarExpert in response.

“The all-new GWM Haval H7 has just started to arrive at dealers for customers to test drive, with competitive pricing across the hybrid and PHEV range to be announced shortly," the statement said.

An official announcement is imminent, with local dealers already receiving customer stock of the new H7 and order books open, with the official launch scheduled for November 2, 2026.

The RAV4 rival will be offered here in two model grades: Lux and Vanta, both with standard all-wheel drive (AWD) and a choice of hybrid (HEV) and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrains.

While launching with five seats, GWM Australia has confirmed seven-seat versions will join the lineup in 2027.

The H7 Lux HEV will have an official starting price of $46,990 drive-away, but GWM will offer $1000 off until November 30, 2026. This brings its price below with the entry-level Toyota RAV4 GX 2WD hybrid which starts at $45,990 before on-road costs.

Standard equipment on the Lux includes 19-inch alloy wheels, a 15.6-inch centre touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a head-up display and automatic parking assist. Hamilton White paint is included, with grey, black and green finishes costing an additional $595.

The PHEV powertrain costs $4000 more, with the H7 Lux PHEV starting at $50,990 . It will also be offered with $1000 off until November 30, 2026, bringing its price to $49,990 drive-away.

That compares to the RAV4 PHEV’s starting price of $58,840 before on-road costs for the XSE 2WD model grade, while the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV ES AWD starts at $58,990 before on-road costs.

The H7 Vanta’s standard equipment includes a locking rear differential, a panoramic sunroof, heated and ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel and ambient lighting.

The H7 Vanta HEV will start at $49,990 drive-away while the H7 Vanta PHEV kicks off at $53,990 drive-away.

Both the H7 HEV and H7 PHEV use a 110kW 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine. The HEV produces combined outputs of 182kW and 670Nm and uses a 1.53kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, with claimed combined fuel consumption of 7.0L/100km.

The PHEV produces 320kW and 670Nm and uses a 33.7kWh ternary lithium battery, with an electric-only range of 137km and a combined range of 844km (WLTC). It cuts the claimed 0–100km/h time from the HEV’s 7.0 seconds to 4.9 seconds.

GWM Australia has said there’s been “unprecedented demand” for the new-generation H7, with more than 1500 expressions of interest after it was shown at the Everything Electric show in Sydney in September.

That compares to 837 sales of the outgoing H7 in the first nine months of 2026, following 450 sales in 2025 after its arrival in July that year.

Currently ranked seventh overall, with sales growth of 14.3 per cent, GWM Australia is targeting a top-five sales position with an onslaught of new models. The H7 was joined at the Everything Electric show by the GWM Cannon Hi4-T PHEV dual-cab ute.
